With bookings starting at a week and enough space to sleep 12 (soon to be more), Swordale
House lends itself beautifully to DIY weddings spread over multiple days. It’s easy to bring
family and friends together in this quaint family home.
The Perfect Setting
Let the festivities begin with a rehearsal dinner in the breakfast room. Its long wooden table
and neutral decor make it the ideal space for a calm and relaxed wedding eve. Spend the
afternoon playing snooker in the gallery, or curled up by one of the home’s many open fires.
As the sun rises on your wedding morning, enjoy a long soak in one of the home’s roll top
baths, before getting ready in the master suite. With eight spacious bedrooms, there is
ample room for the bridal party, as well as hair stylists and make-up artists.
If you are planning an outdoor ceremony, there are a number of settings to choose from (if
the weather permits). Say ‘I do’ in the enchanting orchard or lush gardens – both abundant
with trees, flowers and foliage.
The orchard, gardens and house also provide stunning backdrops for wedding photography
so you can capture your magical day. However, one of the best locations for those perfect
bridal shots is the hidden woodland, complete with a secret lochan and romantic bridge.
Celebrate In Style
Let the fizz flow in the sheltered courtyard – an inviting space for champagne receptions and
outdoor catering, especially when strewn with festoon lighting. Or host an intimate meal in
the formal dining room (with the nearby kitchen providing the perfect base for on-site
caterers).
Pitch a stretch tent or marquee in the sweeping field just beyond the house. With stillness,
quiet and a clear view of the night sky – it makes the ideal location for your ceremony,
champagne reception or ceilidh.
After dancing the night away under the stars, draw your special day to an intimate close in
any of the home’s many entertaining spaces. And be sure to steal at least one quiet moment
alone in one of the home’s cosy nooks.
Ample Amenities
Our estate accommodates a generous number of guests and offers plenty of hosting spots
to celebrate your wedding day. With several lounges, two dining rooms, and a gallery room,
there is no shortage of places to feast, entertain and celebrate.
Swordale House sleeps 12 (soon to be more), and has an opulent master bedroom as a
bridal suite. In anticipation of guests, there are seven other bedrooms, plentiful parking and
laundry facilities.
